Hey everybody,
Welcome to our new blog, designed specifically so that you all can record your thoughts about the Junior UP Experience or even just post a link to a video of or an article about one of our speakers.
We hope that this site will be a place for you to exchange ideas and stay in touch with the rapidly advancing world outside of the classrooms. I will periodically attach links about either what amazing things our presenters are doing or about something that I just find really cool.
Feel free to email me at cody@theupexperience.com if you have any questions.
I am really looking forward to October 15th, and I hope you all are too. It really should be an incredible and exciting day.
Finally, a few guidelines: Please respect the blog and do not use profanities, inappropriate words, phrases, or post inappropriate links. You are responsible for what you type on this blog, and though I hate to say it, the consequences for a serious violation could be severe.
Most importantly, have fun! That is really what this whole Junior UP thing is about. Sometimes we get so busy focusing on upcoming tests, the SAT, or just life in general that we miss all the cool things that we could be learning. Others, I hear, simply don’t see the point in going to school to read a textbook with old information when they could find everything they could possibly need on the Internet, in two seconds. Well, not any more. Junior UP will bring you all to the forefront of our future. It will be fun, it will be exciting, and it will be a whole lot of learning simply for the sake of learning, rather than for a test or quiz or exam later in the year. You will have the chance to meet six titans of the research, science, humanities, business, physics, and technology sectors of our world today. Some of the information they will tell you is so new that it has not been printed in any textbook of any kind anywhere in the world.
If I personally could have one thing out of this conference, it would be this: pay forward the knowledge that you gained by doing something good for your community at home or by teaching another about all the mysteries that I hope you uncover. The world is apparently in shambles right not, so why don’t we start here, start small, and make a little progress towards a better place for all of us.
Thanks. See you on the 15th.
